Truck Bash
2026 saw the charity truck show, Truck Bash move to a new venue, Thornbough events showground. A large easy to find venue based in Alvechurch, Birmingham.

As you enter the site off the main road there is a grassed public car parking area to the left of the drive and farming areas to the right. It is worth noting the site is regularly used for animals so no glass is allowed on site.

Just beyond the public car park the show ground begins. There were a good number of vehicles on display, parked in rows, meaning there were natural walk ways for browsing what was on show.

At the top of the drive there are two further grassed areas. To the right is a large field which hosted a smaller number of vehicles, a camping area and shower facilities. To the left there were portable toilets, these were kept clean throughout the weekend, but possibly needed a few more for the size of the show. There was a large area which was home to a wide variety of traders and food vendors, as well as a stage area, an owl display, bucking broncho and the beneficiaries of the show, The Midland Air Ambulance stand. There were also a number of picnic tables for anyone wanting to sit and enjoy food and drinks or just soak up the atmosphere.

The stage played host to a variety of acts throughout the weekend, including the Irish singer Carragh Lynch and a Shania Twain tribute.

The food vans provided a nice variety of options from the usual burgers and chips, to baked potatoes and pizzas, something for all tastes at affordable prices.

The show offers a relaxed vibe making it not only ideal for family days out, but a nice sized show for drivers wanting a more laid back show.
With it being the first year at the new venue there were always going to be learning curves and teething problems. The main thing that let the show down this year was The lawn mower racing.
Â
On paper it sounded like a unique attraction for the event and not something you see everyday. However the reality of this attraction was not ideal.
Â
The placement of it meant the whole show ground was covered in a fine dust, traders stock was coated, trucks that had been cleaned and polished were coated and if you were using the seating areas you were sprinkled with it. I can’t help but feel out of respect for those traders and trucks parked right next to the attraction, maybe the races should have been stopped for the weekend as not many people were actually watching it, however I am sure lessons have been learned and should they add the attraction to future shows it will be better placed.
Â
Feedback from those attending was a mixed, but the majority was positive and the organisers have announced it was ‘The Best Show yet’.
Â
An impressive £7000 was raised for the shows chosen charity over the weekend, so I think it is safe to say that it was a success.
Â
Overall the showground does allow space for additional attractions compared to previous years and does offer the organisers the chance to grow the event. So keep a look out to see what the future holds for Truck Bash.
